Tottenham fans have been discussing their interest in Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera, and a whopping 73 per cent of fans want the midfielder to replace Mousa Dembele.

According to A Bola (via Sport Witness), Tottenham sent scouts to watch Porto’s 1-0 win over Tondela last week.

CM Jornal claimed recently that Herrera has rejected three separate contract offers from the Portuguese giants, and Tottenham were repeatedly linked with Herrera this summer.

The Mexican international has been fabulous during his five years with Porto, but he will be out of contract next summer.

This means Tottenham could get him for dirt cheap in January, or negotiate a pre-contract agreement to sign him for free next summer.

Mousa Dembele is of course expected to leave North London when his deal expires next summer, so a direct swap for Herrera without spending a penny makes perfect sense
