Manchester United’s dreadful start to the Premier League campaign went from bad to worse last time out when they were outclassed by bitter rivals and reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The Red Devils could hardly lay a glove on their neighbours and were bettered in every area of the pitch.
The 3-1 scoreline alone is a damning enough indictment of Jose Mourinho’s management, but the fact that three of his most high-profile signings – Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Fred – were benched for this crunch clash highlights how poorly handled his stewardship at Old Trafford has been.

According to The Sun, Mourinho faces the sack if he fails to achieve Champions League qualification this season.
United currently sit in 8th place in the league table, with an embarrassing goal difference figure of minus-one. The time has come, during this current international break, for the United hierarchy to cut their ties with the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho has shown in the last year that he is incapable of getting United to compete for the biggest prizes and now they are mired in mid-table mediocrity.
With the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Leonardo Jardim and Antonio Conte all currently out of work, the time for a change in the Old Trafford dugout is now.
What do you think, United fans – should Mourinho be sacked now or be afforded the chance to save the club’s season?
